Good Afternoon:
The latest data is now and it presents more interesting possibilities.
Snow: Cold air will continue to filter in at 850 and 700 mb this afternoon and evening. With it, our highest resolution model is now predicting a coating of snow in Jerusalem (with temperatures around 2 C), and several centimeters in Gush Etzion (and on mountains just north of the city). A coating of snow in Safed is also likely.
A 500 mb trough will make its way towards our coast tonight and tomorrow. While it is not especially cold, it is colder than -25 C, and some members of the global ensemble are significantly colder. This means that there is the possibility that periods of snow will continue into the afternoon/evening on Shabbat, before ending with the passage of the trough. Snow continues on the Golan.
Wind: This afternoon strong to gale force winds continue before tapering off this afternoon.
Rain: periods of rain, although amounts are suppose to be within 5 to 10 cm.
Dust storm in the south ends tonight.
Shabbat Shalom,
Barry Lynn
