Weather It Is (A Question Asked/Answered).

Q. If I understand your explanation, the southeasterly winds that spiked the temperature gauge we experienced as Sharav actually originated in Africa, flowed due east to the Arabian Peninsula, and then came north, northeast to Israel?   Yaakov

A. I am not sure that they made such a circuitous route, but the hot air originated in Africa and will eventually flow from the Arabian Peninsula.

However, looking at the wide view maps on the site shows that the high pressure area over Africa expands to meet the low pressure area over the Peninsula.  The hot air is then dragged northward by the approaching low pressure area that will bring the dust as well.
