Weather It Is (It's Coming Back)

Good Afternoon:

We've counted the votes (there were 331), and winter won by 15 of them.  155 people voted for winter, 140 for spring, 15 for summer, 2 for fall, and the rest had no opinion.  I wasn't sure if they had "no opinion" or were just the type of easy folks who sort of blow whichever way the wind blows.

Well after blowing a bit tropical, the wind is going to blow more from the north. Our ensemble forecasts are indicating that on Monday evening the temperatures at 500 mb will fall to -25 C or a bit below, which should encourage any wayward snow-flakes to take the plunge towards the surface.  However, this is not without great risk (to them) because temperatures near the surface will be near zero or above (rather than below).

Regarding precipitation amounts, there is still quite a range of values shown.  Colder temperatures, though, would bring heavier precipitation amounts. What we can say is that the winter-like temperatures will toe the party-line and remain with us for at least several days.  So, tomorrow should be the last somewhat warm day, and then it is back to winter.
