Weather It Is (A Week To Remember?)

Good Evening:  The latest Saturday afternoon forecasts are in, both the higher resolution Global Forecast Model (GFS) and its somewhat lower resolution ensemble (GEFS).  Both the GFS and GEFS are continuing to show a strong winter storm to impact the area tonight to be followed by an even stronger and colder winter storm starting on Tuesday.  This winter storm is forecast to be extremely cold and wet, which is a perfect combination for snow in the higher elevations (i.e, Jerusalem) and northern Galilee mountains, as well as the Golan.  This is forecast to be a large storm and an extensive storm with heavy precipitation covering the whole country all at once for periods of time during the duration of this storm.

The time frame is rain on Wednesday, transitioning to snow on Wednesday, possibly lasting into Friday. As we get closer to the event, our weather pages should spell out the (hopefully) snowy and rainy weather in greater detail.

Of course, we're still several days away, so stay tuned.
