Weather It Is (Special Weather Statement)

At 10:20 A.M

We're back up to 3 C and the wet snow accumulation has melted.  It was nice while it fell.  The precipitation for the rest of the morning and early afternoon should be somewhat lighter than this mid-morning's.  Hence, we shouldn't expect any cooling due to heavy snow/ice to occur to any great amount.  The rest of the week into Shabbat should be wet.  Of course, drivers should exercise caution as conditions change.

Temperatures have dropped to close to freezing in Gush Etzion.  Snow is falling, which means that the cold air from aloft has mixed down in the heavier precipitation.  The latest  00 GMT GFS forecasts show cold temperatures remaining with us until mid-afternoon.  Our  latest 18 GMT highest resolution forecast does show an accumulation of snow from Efrat to Hebron, of possibly several centimeters.  Temperatures should warm towards late afternoon.

Here are the 5 minute Efrat snow accumulation amounts (negative means melting). Times are UTC (two hours behind our local time. Amounts are in cm.  Amounts in Hebron are similar.
