Weather It Is (Heavy Rain)

Good Evening:

A storm moving across the Mediterranean will pick up plenty of moisture as it approaches our area.  Its eastward track means that we'll have to worry about rain in most places, while snow will be confined to the Hermon (where it could be quite heavy, especially as one ascends up the mountain).

Otherwise, Thursday will be a fair and dry day, with a bit of mid-day warmth.  However, rain will arrive in the evening across the west and makes its way across the country by about midnight.

The heaviest rain will be from Ashekelon eastward to Jerusalem and down to Hebron, where 50 to 100 mm are again expected.  By the end of Friday, there will be 10 to 25 mm reaching just south of Beer-Sheva.

Up in the north, there will generally be 25 to 50 mm, including the Kinneret basin, but with 50 to 100 mm along the spine of the Golan.  Har Hermon may receive more than 100 mm.

The rain will taper to showers on Shabbat and then temperatures will remain cool for several days.

About the middle of the month, we're hoping that the weather map will turn wintry.  There is a 20% chance that it will.
