Weather It Is (A Storm Brews)

Good Evening:

The latest long-range forecast certainly shows the "calm before the storm."

As we mentioned, strong low pressure centered over Finland will slowly move eastward as shorter winter waves rotate in around its back side (from the northwest of the low center).

The first in the series of storms will draw warmer air into our area Monday into Tuesday, before the colder winter air associated with it moves in on Wednesday.

A second and stronger wave should follow it.  Because it is better defined, it will move more slowly and warm temperatures will return Thursday and Friday.

The same wave will begin to make its presence felt on Shabbat with cooler temperatures.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, there is a 30% chance that much colder winter air will wrap around an area of higher pressure moving into central and northern Europe.  If it does, this southern stream storm will merge with the northern stream and explode into a winter snow storm from the center to the north of the country (with winds in excess (again) of 50 km/h).  If not, expect a period of rain.
